Fertility Acupuncture

Chinese Medicine is a complete system of medicine that treats fertility naturally and improves overall health without side effects. Whether you are committed to conceiving naturally, working with a specialist, or in the middle of IVF cycle, an acupuncturist who specializes in fertility can help you move forward on your fertility journey. While reproductive endocrinologists treat fertility patients with hormones, surgeries, IUI and IVF procedures, we draw upon less invasive methods to help you conceive. In addition, we have a deep understanding of modern reproductive medicine to properly treat patients that are using both acupuncture and Western Medicine to enhance their fertility.

Fertility FAQs

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments you need will depend on your condition and the duration and severity of your condition. The minimum course of treatment for most fertility patients is weekly treatments for three cycles.

I'm preparing for IVF. When should I start acupuncture?

It is ideal to get started with acupuncture treatments at least one month before you begin stimulation meds. If that deadline has passed, don’t worry. You can begin at any time, however, the benefits of acupuncture accumulate with repeated treatment, so try to get in sooner than later.

How many treatments will I need during an IVF cycle?

If you are able to get in ahead of time, you will be getting weekly treatments leading up to your retrieval in addition to the day before your retrieval. In preparation for a fresh transfer, you will come in the day before and after your transfer. For a frozen transfer, we recommend that you come in once or twice a week starting on cycle day 3 and the day before transfer. If your IVF clinic has an acupuncturist available for in-clinic acupuncture around your transfer, we encourage you to use that service to ensure you are able to get in when needed.

What is different about your approach?

Our approach to fertility is holistic. In addition to acupuncture treatments, you receive lifestyle, herbal and supplement recommendations. The benefit of seeing a specialist with experience treating hundreds of fertility patients is that no time is wasted in getting you on the right path to enhance your chances of success.

What if I have “Unexplained Infertility”?

One of the best things about getting acupuncture is that we are able to balance issues that may seem insignificant to your western medical doctor. With acupuncture, we are looking at your whole body, not just your reproductive system. Even if there is no explanation for your fertility problems, we can usually see where something in your system need to improve. Often, these little tweaks are enough to result in success.
